The Master of Science in Health Scholarship program is a flexible modular study program, which can be studied full or part-time. The regular study period is two years (full-time), but may be up to one year shorter if appropriate professional experience has already been achieved before the studies.

About the Organization
The German Academic Exchange Service/DAAD was established in 1925 and is the largest German support organization in the field of international academic cooperation.
The organization is a private, federally funded and state-funded, self-governing national agency of the institutions of higher education in Germany, that represents 365 German higher education institutions (100 universities and technical universities, 162 general universities of applied sciences, and 52 colleges of music and art) [2003].
The DAAD does not offer programs of study or courses, but awards competitive, merit-based grants for use toward study and/or research in Germany at any of the approved German institutions of higher education.
The organization also awards grants to German students, doctoral students, and students for studies and research abroad. With an annual budget of 522 million Euros and supporting approximately 140.000 individuals worldwide, DAAD is the largest such academic grant organization worldwide.
However, the organization was established on 1 January 1925 but closed down in 1945, only to be re-founded again in 1950.
Requirements for Master of Science in Health Scholarship
- Applicants from low- and middle-income countries who have completed an academic degree (240ECTS/4 years) with far above average results (upper third) and at least two years of related professional experience after the first degree (Bachelor) at the time of application are qualified for Master of Science in Health Scholarship.
- His/her academic degrees should normally be no more than six years old to be qualified.
- Master of Science in Health Scholarship holders start their study by attending the Core Course at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin. For the advanced studies phase, applicants will complete Advanced Modules (20 ECTS) in Berlin or at our partner universities in Heidelberg, Germany, and Bergen, Norway. The Master Thesis is done at the National Institute of Public Health in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

- Curriculum Vitae, personally signed with a current date. Note that the curriculum must be submitted in Europass format. You can also find the sample here.
- Letter of Motivation, personally signed with the current date (maximum 2 pages) IMPORTANT: When you want to apply for more than one postgraduate course (maximum 3 courses), still submit only one motivation letter describing why you are applying for the specific courses and why you chose that priority.
- Research proposal for a suggested Master Thesis project (maximum 3-5 pages). Note that your research proposal for the DAAD application is in no way binding in terms of your thesis project for our program. This proposal will just help us to evaluate your application.
- Letter of recommendation from your current employer. The letter must have letterhead, the signature, and the official stamp and must be of the current date (not in a sealed envelope).
- Certificate(s) of Employment from the employer(s) that confirm a minimum of two years of relevant working experience (after the Bachelor’s degree) at the time of application (with letterhead, signature, and stamp) and if possible, a guarantee of re-employment from your current employer upon returning home.
- Evidence of English Language Skills: IELTS (Band 6) certificate or TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 213 computer-based, 80 internets based).
- Native speakers of English do not need to submit evidence.
- Scholars who have completed a university degree that was taught in English in an English-speaking country (e.g. the United Kingdom, the U.S., Canada, etc.) need only submit their degree certificate.
- Applicants from Botswana, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda only need to have a certificate by the Dean of Studies of their prior university confirming that their whole tertiary education was conducted in English.
- Certified copies of Academic Degrees (with a certified translation if the degree was issued in any language other than English).
- Certified copies of Academic Transcripts, incl. grading-scale (certified translation if the transcript was issued in any language other than English).
- Applicants from the People’s Republic of China are requested to submit an APS Certificate with their application documents.
How to Apply for Master of Science in Health Scholarship
